Samuel Ellis Scheinman for i-D
Samuel Ellis Scheinman cast Björk and Arca for i-D's 40th-Anniversary Edition! The musical pair get personal about their found sisterhood and how their relationship helped them flourish artistically and emotionally. The two reveal personal letters they've written to each other that encapsulate the appreciation and love between them and the experiences that helped them produce Björk's latest music. Arca dives into her experience with gender, being non-binary stating "that each man has both a man and a woman inside of them and that each woman has both a woman and man inside of them, too." Arca beautifully explains the unnecessary socialization of gender in society and the freedom that comes with being in touch with your masculinity and femininity, that the two are necessary to be a whole. The shoot carries a space like aesthetic, Björk bearing beautiful floral gowns, Arca in latex lingerie, and both wearing intricate alienesque headpieces. Read the full interview on i-D.
