Odile Gilbert mentioned in Forbes
Hair Stylist Odile Gilbert was mentioned in a Forbes article detailing the history of gender inequality in the professional hairdressing industry. In the article, freelance writer Bea McMonagle mentions the greats of the industry, specifically those in New York Fashion Week—James Pecis, Guido Palau, Bob Recine, Eugene Souleiman... names that are largely male. McMonagle states that women only make up about 26% of hair talent at major agencies and only 40% of celebrity hairdressing. She spoke with hair stylists Jen Atkins, Sarah Palmer, Justine Marjan, and our very own Odile Gilbert who all acknowledge gender bias in the industry and advocate and push for equality.
McMonagle notes that every hairdresser in this article cites Odile as an inspiration. Odile loves to keep backstage "zen and inclusive" and says, "I love to work with hairdressers from around the world, in this way I learn something just as much as they learn something. Keeping your eyes open feeds your creativity." Read the full length article on Forbes.com.
