JONATHON BECK FOR LEGENDS ONLY LEAGUE
Jonathon Beck was the Production Designer for the legendary exhibition match between infamous boxers Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. The pair squared off in the Los Angeles, Staples Center delivering an exciting fight that was so close it ended in a draw. The match met the hype despite Tyson being in retirement for over 20 years, Jones Jr. for 3. The 50-year-old icons fight featured long-time judges Chad Dawson, Christy Martin, and Vinny Pazienza with live performances by Snoop Dogg, YG, Wiz Khalifa, French Montana, and SAINt JHN with hosting by Mario Lopez. Tyson and Jones Jr. both earned $1 million from the fight in which Tyson will donate all of his proceeds to his new foundation 'Legends Only League'. His foundation is the "next-generation sports venture that provides full support and infrastructure to the world’s greatest athletes."
"A really quick way to encapsulate the overarching design aesthetic of the event," says Jonathon Beck, "a black void sharply lit by incredible lighting, LED content that wraps around that feels like a hybrid between a live-action video game, The Hunger Games, an opera set, and the best rock tour concert you've ever seen." It's not just a boxing event, it's an entertainment event, so Jonathon worked closely with an Academy award-winning Chief Creative Officer and the Lighting Director who worked on the latest Fenty Savage fashion show.
