Frances Tulk-Hart for Papillon Butterfly Magazine
Frances Tulk-Hart photographed the story "Suburban Summer" for Papillon Butterfly's latest issue! Styled by the magazine's Editor-in-Chief Michel Onofrio, the story was inspired by the 2003 New Zealand film Whale Rider. Frances said of the film, "There is a simplicity to [the wardrobe] that is far from contrived. [The clothes] add layers to the characters and their situations and quite frankly, like the movie itself, took my breath away in their beauty. Most of the clothes looked very much lived-in, so I requested for the shoot that they all be pulled from thrift stores. A few weeks later 13 bags of clothes from Goodwill showed up outside my door." The story demonstrates the enviable simplicity of kids' lives in summer through kickflips in the parking lot, hanging out by the pool, and staying out until sunset.
