Stefan Beckman for WangxHM Launch Party
Last night the launch party for Alexander Wang x H&M, at the Armory on the Hudson, took the fashion world by storm! The collection is all about sportswear, but not just any kind of sporty clothes, we’re talking extreme active wear. Between the matrix-like opening and the burly men doing parkour around the complex’s gym set, built by Stefan Beckman, the entire night was the embodiment of the word “show”. Models strutted down the racetrack-themed catwalk in wrestler’s headgear, boxing gloves, and hockey masks while dressed almost entirely in black. Missy Elliot gave a high-energy performance to an abundance of stars that included Dakota Fanning, Jessica Chastain, Justin Theroux, Solange, Kate Mara, Eddie Redmayne, and many more.
"We've had parties at gas stations, we've had parties at shopping malls, at outdoor parking lots, and the key is really to have good people and good music," Wang said. "It was very important that the location spoke to sports. And I wanted to bring everyone somewhere new. We looked at all these difference coliseums, and then we came here and it felt right." From the location to the runway to the music, the elements seemed together perfectly to create an Alexander Wang and H&M experience like no other!
